Carlton le Willows table tennis center hosted the first competition on the calendar since restrictions began to loosen, and young English pathway players Connor Green and Jasmine Wong were the winners.
With Covid logs at the competition run by Sycamore TTC, things felt a different way than a pre-pandemic event. However, high quality table tennis was shown on both days.
In the junior competition, Connor Green prevailed with six to seven wins against Group 1 of the boys and ended up ahead of fellow players Ben Piggott, Rhys Davies and Toby Ellis, who were all separated after each five games won in the countback.
Group 2 was led by Daniel Jones with a 100% record over eight games ahead of Joseph Dennison and Isaac Kingham. Jasmin Wong was with a maximum of eight out of eight top runners in the girls' group, Anaya Patel second and Erin Green third.
In the Cadet competition, Kingham topped Group 1, winning all seven games ahead of Ben Dunkley and Dennison. In Group 2, Adam Alibhai won all seven games and led the overall standings. Aarav Shah finished second and Janak Shah third.
